As a pet owner, I can attest to the importance of having access to trustworthy, dependable, and compassionate cat sitters. Like the vast majority of you, I think of my cats as members of the family. Therefore, I will treat your pets as though they were my own.
At 62 years old, I have spent my entire life surrounded by purring feline family members. Snickers, my 13-year-old diabetic cat, and Fred, my 1.5-year-old, are my current feline companions. I decided to sell my large home in Arlington, Virginia, and purchase a smaller, more manageable condo in nearby Falls Church. I’m a married woman with three lovely daughters, two adorable granddaughters, and a handsome grandson.
AuPurr Cat Care
Pet taxi service to and from the veterinarian, oral medication administration, shots, and sub-Q fluid administration, as well as daily visits and overnight stays, are all part of the in-home cat care service we offer. A few of our sitters also work as veterinary technicians.
In October 2009, I launched AuPurr with the help of six of my friends. We have grown to serve over 300 homes, with 25 part-time sitters, all of whom are either former or current cat parents. We research all medication, behaviour issues, foods, litters, and breeds; we collaborate with all local vet offices; and we provide grief counselling to clients or friends of clients following the loss of a cat.
The idea for Au Purr came to me after I retired from my 32-year career as a new development manager in high-rise construction and property management of residential and commercial buildings in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Since I’ve had cats ever since I was 5 years old and am now the mother of eight, I knew I had valuable insight to share with other cat owners. My cats are like children to me, so we’ve always taken great care to find loving pet sitters whenever we went out of town.
Each year that Au Purr has been open, we have received Angie’s List’s highest honour, the Super Service Award. We have a lot of pride in this achievement, but we won’t stop working to better our services and learn from our mistakes.

Children at our day camp can enjoy both indoor and outdoor play areas under the watchful eye of our trained counsellors.
We welcome early risers by opening our doors each weekday at 6:30 am. Six hours of playtime is included in the half-day rate. All dogs are welcome for a free evaluation at the day camp. Full-service grooming, Spa baths, flea dips, manicures, etc. Bring your pet to our professional groomers and bathers. Among the many services we offer are therapeutic and exercise swimming in our indoor pool, agility play and training, indoor cardio jogging, massage, and more. We offer both pick-up and delivery services.
