In 1996, Whitney received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she majored in International Affairs and Spanish. Former Vice President of CCLAS and former Co-Chair of F.I.D.O., the citizen’s committee that oversaw the construction of the Lakewood Dog Park (Citizens Committee for a Lakewood Animal Shelter).
Whitney has birthed over 40 puppies from the Champion Chocolate Labrador Retrievers that her family bred and showed. Whitney holds an American Red Cross Pet First Aid Certificate. Mark, their sons Brendan and Wyatt, and their four-legged children (a Bullmastiff named “Sookie,” a cattle dog mix named “Spud,” and two rescue cats named “Bogart” and “Bacall”) are the center of her world.

Trained pet caretaker with over a decade of experience. Accreditations include the Certification in Pet CPR, membership in the Better Business Bureau, and membership in the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. In addition to dog walking and house sitting, we also provide in-home boarding either ours or yours, as well as a pet taxi to the dog park, the veterinarian, and other destinations.
It wasn’t until 2004 that I made pet sitting a full-time career for myself. I am now offering a wider range of services thanks to the expansion of my business.
The name’s Sharon. To be more specific, I grew up on a farm in Medina County, Ohio. For many years, the 4H club was something I belonged to with great satisfaction.
I graduated with a paralegal certificate but after a few years in the field realized it wasn’t a good fit for me. After that, I got a job at a doggie daycare in downtown Cleveland where we had to bring the canine charges home with us every night. I was instantly smitten, and I convinced myself that I could handle things on my own. , and have been doing so ever since.
The Mutt Hutt
Dogs can enjoy a day of play in a cage-free environment and rest easy at night knowing they are being watched over round-the-clock. Also, through our Secondhand Mutts adoption program, we house strays.
Dogs are welcome to come to the Mutt Hutt, a cage-free, homey, social environment, to sit and stay. The staff at The Mutt Hutt is sensitive to the needs of canine clients who want to play and interact with other dogs. As a business, we are sympathetic to the time constraints of our proprietors. Both our indoor and outdoor areas, totaling 5,000 square feet, are at your disposal.
When I needed a place to board my dogs traditionally while I was on vacation, I was not happy with the options I found. I started The Mutt Hutt so that dogs could stay the night without being confined in a cage while still being under the watchful eye of trained professionals. After two years of using my connections at The Mutt Hutt to save abandoned animals and find them new homes, I formally established Secondhand Mutts as a nonprofit rescue in Ohio in April 2009.
Since we started this, we have placed dozens of dogs who would have otherwise been abandoned with loving families. The wonderful volunteers who run Secondhand Mutts out of The Mutt Hutt are a credit to their organization. The volunteers in the adoption program put in countless hours caring for the dogs in the program and even provide much-needed breaks for the workers in their own homes. This endeavor has become my passion and the most rewarding aspect of helping homeless pets.

In 2016, I decided to make my volunteer work with animals into a full-time enterprise. What I’ve accomplished with PAWS is the professional realization of my lifelong passion for animals. Cleveland was my home away from home from 2016-2021, and in that time I made over 225 client connections and 500 furry friends while walking dogs and caring for other pets.
My wife and I relocated to Buffalo, New York, from California after the 2020 COVID pandemic because we missed our families and wanted to be closer to them. As of right now, I am the sole proprietor of PAWS, with headquarters in Amherst, New York, and coverage that includes most of Buffalo. I can’t wait to start my career working with animals and giving their owners the help and comfort they deserve.
My name is Phil, and I’m excited to meet you and your furry family members. Animals of all kinds need to have opportunities for exercise and socialization, and I take great pleasure in providing those experiences for them.
When I joined PAWS, I brought with me a lifetime of experience in pet care. For ten years, I devoted my life to helping animals in need by volunteering with animal shelters and rescue groups. This pastime of mine became my full-time occupation in 2016 when I launched a dog-walking and pet-sitting service.

Sheila, the founder of Edmond Critter Sitter, began the business in 2010. In 2013, her friend Kim Mullins bought the company and merged it with her own company, Kimmer’s Kennel. She has continued to use the Edmond Critter Sitter name and run the business since then.
Kim and her son Cole are the business owners and operators. Kim has a deep, abiding affection for all kinds of animals, and she delights in working with them because of this. Kim is a proud grandmother of five. Her youngest child is 18 years old. Kim is the proud owner of two lovable pooches.
