Requirements for a Driver’s License
At the time of rental, the renter and all permitted drivers must produce a valid, unexpired, and original driver’s license. The driver’s license must be in good working order and valid for the duration of the rental. Temporary licenses are only allowed when provided in conjunction with the original expired or revoked driver’s license. Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner’s Permits, and restricted driver’s licenses will not be accepted. At the time of rental, all drivers with non-US driver’s licenses must present a valid passport.
It is your responsibility to follow all licensing and traffic rules and regulations. FVAR (12-passenger vans) and PVAR (15-passenger vans) vehicle groups: Please verify your local state regulations for minimum Driver’s License requirements before making a reservation. These vehicle classifications may need the usage of a commercial driver’s license. If the rental is for personal use only, no commercial driver’s license is necessary. Except for family members of the appropriately licensed authorized driver, these vehicles may not be used to carry children in the twelfth (12th) grade or younger for school-related purposes. These vehicles are not permitted to be operated in Canada.
A non-Roman alphabet driver’s license (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) must be accompanied by an international driver’s license. Driver’s licenses from countries not party to the International Driver’s License Treaty must be accompanied by an official translation of the license.
Restrictions on Age
Certain limitations regarding minimum age and driver’s license possession apply, which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked car. In most locations, the minimum age to hire a vehicle is 21 (in New York, it is 18), and the driver must have a valid driver’s license. A minimum age of 25 is required for certain specialist and larger-sized automobiles.
Drivers under the age of 25 will be charged an Underage Driver Fee.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Sixt provides a variety of options for accommodating customers with impairments in order to ensure that they receive the high level of customer service that Sixt provides. Such accommodations, however, must be requested in advance. Additional Conditions
Sixt maintains the right to refuse a rental if the operation of a certain vehicle necessitates extra licensing, documentation, or other prerequisites in addition to a valid driver’s license. Sixt also maintains the right to deny a rental if the renter’s driver’s license limits the renter’s ability to operate the requested rental vehicle.
A reservation can be made for a period of up to 365 days. Over-due reservations will be processed in 28-day increments until the entire period of the reservation is met. At the time of check-out, the customer will be given the first rental agreement. Subsequent rental agreements will be generated remotely and emailed to the consumer. The customer must evaluate, electronically sign, and provide the vehicle’s current mileage for each successive rental agreement.
A rental day is defined as each successive 24-hour period commencing after the rental’s start time (regardless of time zones and daylight-saving times effects).
